Already qualified but want a little assistance?
Many of our customers only sail once or twice a year and we aim to provide a friendly, helping hand to help you start your holiday and brush up on your sailing skills if you are a little rusty. If you have RYA Day Skipper, Dinghy L3 or ICC qualification but have an inexperienced crew, young children or are feeling a little nervous, then we recommend you having a professional skipper with you for the first day or more if you feel you need it. Our friendly skippers help you with making sure everyone on board knows what is safe and what’s not and helping all crew members know what their jobs are to help you all have a stress-free sailing holiday.
How it works
One of our skipper team will meet you on arrival here at the yard and welcome you on board. After a yacht handover & safety briefing they will head out onto the water with you for a ‘shake down’ sail. Your skipper will take you through all the important basics of raising and lowering sails, operating the engine, mooring, man overboard drill etc. On arrival at your first destination your skipper will take time with you to review the afternoon, any questions and look at the itinerary with you for the rest of your holiday. If you feel anyone would benefit from additional coaching at this stage, we are then more than happy to arrange this with you. Skippered Charter can also be booked in advance at £150 per day in addition to your yacht hire. Should you require any other support or help with us during your time afloat we are only a phone call away.

“We had a fantastic trip aboard Windjammer. The staff at Eastwood Whelpton were very helpful and the boat was clean and tidy on arrival. All social distancing was maintained as we did the introduction before setting sail.”
“Best way to unwind… in the wind! After the fun and excitement of arriving and setting sail, you can feel life’s pressures falling away. Eastwood Whelpton is a lovely family owned boatyard on the beautiful Norfolk Broads. A short stay gives you just enough time to sail up to Hickling and Horsey, two lovely sailing destinations, where you can experience life at a pace it is meant to be. Cannot wait until we go again!”
